The Departments aims:
As a faculty, our aim is to encourage and challenge all students and staff to reach their potential through communication and expression. Through English, we intend to enable students to attain as precise a use of words as possible, to enable them to be fluent speakers, accurate listeners, proficient writers and committed readers. Students will be encouraged to use language in all its varieties and for all its purposes, from the functional to the creative form. The introduction of Media Studies as an option subject embodies our aspirations to allow students to create and express their individuality through a variety of media. Creative skills and technical competence are intrinsic in the delivery of our media studies course. We aim to fulfil the needs of all our students and offer enrichment to all students in the school through one of the many forms of communication we offer. We are also committed to delivering courses that satisfy the demands of the National Curriculum and the GCSE, AS/A2 and ALAN examinations.

Extra-Curricular activities :
Students have in the past been given the opportunity to perform the works of Shakespeare in the open. In June 2007, one year eight class gave a very successful performance of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. This was followed in June 2008 when the same class performed “Macbeth”. We hope to repeat the success of these two productions in the future.
